Eli belongs to a vampire nest that does not believe in killing humans, but instead drinks cow's blood to survive. That way, hunters will not hunt them. He got a job as a bartender to blend in.
Ty Olsson also portrays the vampire Benny Lafitte in season 8. Both vampires do not feed on humans; Eli feeds on cattle blood and Benny feeds on bagged blood.
